Die Burg Trakošćan sieht aus wie ein Märchenschloss. Sie liegt in den grünen Hügeln im Norden Kroatiens, umgeben von einem See und einem großen Park. Die Burg wurde vor über 700 Jahren erbaut, um die Gegend zu schützen. Später wurde sie zu einem wunderschönen Wohnsitz umgebaut.

Festung Klis – Die Burg der tapferen Kämpfer
Die Festung Klis liegt hoch oben auf einem Berg und bewachte früher den Zugang zur Stadt Split. Sie wurde schon vor über 2.000 Jahren von einem alten Volk, den Illyrern, gebaut. Später wurde sie von den Römern, den Kroaten und sogar von den Türken genutzt.
Die Burg Klis ist bekannt für ihre tapferen Verteidiger. Besonders berühmt ist ein Mann namens Petar Kružić, der die Burg lange Zeit gegen Angreifer verteidigte. Heute kannst du die Festung besuchen und die Aussicht über die Stadt Split und das Meer genießen. Vielleicht erkennst du die Burg aus der Serie „Game of Thrones“, denn dort wurde sie für einige Szenen genutzt!
Burg Nehaj – Die Piratenjäger von Senj
Die Burg Nehaj steht in der Stadt Senj und wurde im 16. Jahrhundert gebaut. Sie war die Festung der berühmten „Uskoken“, einer Gruppe von Kämpfern, die gegen feindliche Schiffe kämpften. Manche Leute nennen sie auch „Piratenjäger“.
Die Uskoken nutzten die Burg als Versteck und Stützpunkt, von dem aus sie das Meer überwachten. Heute kannst du durch die dicken Mauern der Burg spazieren und die großen Kanonen sehen, mit denen sie sich verteidigten. Von der Burg aus hast du einen tollen Blick auf das Meer und die umliegenden Inseln.
Schloss Veliki Tabor – Ein Schloss voller Geheimnisse
Das Schloss Veliki Tabor liegt in der Region Zagorje und sieht aus, als wäre es aus einem alten Märchenbuch entsprungen. Es wurde im 15. Jahrhundert gebaut und hat dicke weiße Mauern und runde Türme. Eine der bekanntesten Geschichten über das Schloss ist die Legende von Veronika. Sie soll eine wunderschöne Frau gewesen sein, die in das Schloss gebracht wurde, aber dort ein trauriges Schicksal erlebte. Manche Leute glauben, dass ihr Geist noch immer im Schloss umherwandert!

Trakošćan Castle – A fairytale castle in the hills
Trakošćan Castle looks like a fairytale castle. It is located in the green hills in the north of Croatia, surrounded by a lake and a large park. The castle was built over 700 years ago to protect the area. It was later converted into a beautiful residence.
Inside the castle you can see old furniture, knights‘ armour and weapons. There is also a museum that shows how people used to live in the castle. Imagine how the knights polished their swords or the ladies strolled through the halls in long dresses!

The Uskoks used the castle as a hiding place and base from which they monitored the sea. Today you can walk through the thick walls of the castle and see the large cannons with which they defended themselves. From the castle, you have a great view of the sea and the surrounding islands.
Veliki Tabor Castle – a castle full of secrets
Veliki Tabor Castle is located in the Zagorje region and looks like something out of an old fairytale book. It was built in the 15th century and has thick white walls and round towers. One of the most famous stories about the castle is the legend of Veronica. She is said to have been a beautiful woman who was brought to the castle but met a sad fate there. Some people believe that her ghost still wanders around the castle!
There is a museum in the castle with old paintings, weapons and tools. It’s an exciting place where you can learn a lot about life in the past.
Dubrovnik Castle – the city of walls
Dubrovnik, one of Croatia’s most famous cities, is actually a huge fortress. The thick city walls were built to protect the city from attackers. They are so strong that they have never been breached!
You can walk along the walls today and imagine how the guards used to search the sea for enemy ships. Inside the walls there are many old buildings, narrow streets and even a palace that was inhabited by the princes of Dubrovnik.
